7 months later…

It is impossible to give the updates of the past 7 months – but we are all doing well. She celebrated her birthday and devoured her cake. It was a kitty theme because nothing makes her squeal with delight as when she sees her kitties. Now she says “hi kitty” then screams.

Lily started walking in Jan/Feb when she was 13 months old. Now she runs and never misses an opportunity to dance.

Lily is building her vocabulary but one of her favorite words is banana, but spoken like ba-la-la. Other words are baby, dada, bye bye, fish (bish), flower (our). Each week she gets new words and can identify more objects. She is a good listener most of the time, but loves helping us with daily tasks around the house. If something needs to be done, Lily is there to help.

She has had all her teeth for some time, I’m glad we are done with teething. She likes to play outside in the yard and we’ve gone to the pool twice. Yesterday she decided the pool was great because she played and splashed and had no problem going in without any help. Here is a smattering of pictures from the past half year.

Lots of Fall Fun

Yes it has been 2 months since our last post. We have a few excuses that I hope you will all understand. First is that Lily is mobile. Enough said. She is busy crawling around getting into everything, including chasing cats and pulling up on anything her little hands can hold onto. The other reason is we have been doing some traveling so that has eaten away at our free time as well.

As of this week Lily is 10 months old, she weighs over 19 pounds, can crawl, is beginning to move from one piece of furniture to another, she has 3 teeth total, she got her top right 2nd tooth a few weeks ago, and the remaining 3 top teeth are close behind. She likes to eat table food and join us at meals and she loves to dance and go out to lunch!

The pictures below are a little taste of what we have been up to: Lily is no longer cooperative enough to lay down to be compared to Mickey, but they are friends and she likes to hang out with him. I have failed to remember to take a 10 month picture…. sorry. Her hair on the top part of her head is getting very long and sometimes Lily comes home with a pony tail from day care, and I think it is too cute! (Eventually I will learn how to do my own daughters hair). We recently went to Iowa to visit Scott’s brother and his wife in their new home, and also visit with Lily’s Grandma and Grandpa who came down from Wisconsin to visit as well. We went to a farm that had pumpkins and we had a blast. While at Marc and Amy’s house Lily decided Gizmo (their dog) was a fun playmate.

Last but not least Lily was a flower for Halloween. She was pretty cooperative with wearing the costume, but I don’t think she was very happy. She was absolutely adorable! We trick-or-treated at a few neighbors houses and she liked showing off her costume.

two teeth!

Lily got her first two teeth at the same time. Her two bottom teeth came in without too much fussing. She was a little crabby the week before – but then all of a sudden there were two rigid teeth popping through. They are finally big enough that she plays with them with her tongue and we can see them when she opens her mouth. She isn’t truly crawling yet, but she has the army crawl down, and she can make her way across the room. She likes to clap and say one syllable sounds, ma ma ma, da da da, la la la… etc. We pretend she calls for us. She is starting to eat table food and can feed herself cereal… some of the time.

Lily is getting big fast – I know she is in the 17lb range, no idea of her height. It is hard to get the Micky picture because she wants to bolt and play with something more interesting.

We went to Chicago to go visit Lily’s Great Grandma and other family. She did a great job in the car and was the life of the party showing off her smile. Over labor day weekend day care was closed so Michelle spent the day with Lily. During this weekend we discovered that Lily loves the swing at the park. The picture below is her mid squeal. I’m attempting to make up for the lack of postings by making this one picture heavy. They are a smattering of the past month of Lily hanging out, goofing off and being cute.

Summa Time

It’s been a while since our last update, so here’s a few pictures to catch you up.

First things first. Scott got a new car this weekend, so I thought it was appropriate to lead with that one.

Oh yeah, then there’s a pile of Lily pictures too. You can see Lily in her Jeep Renegade (her new car). She loves to honk the horn with her tongue as you can see. Speaking of Lily’s face, she’s also a fan of jamming her toy elephant’s foot in her mouth…at least that’s better than her choking on his trunk.

After all that eating, you can see she barely fits in her little tankini (spelling?) any more. It’s hard to believe that was big on her when she wore it in Florida back in April. We were singing “Fat guy in a little coat” while dressing her. Michelle took her to the pool today, so we figured a tight swim suite is better than going diaper-only.

Lily’s Grandma Betz was here a couple weekends ago and you can see a picture of them on the couch together. Lily discovered her new light up rattle that weekend, so you can see her glued to that in the same picture.

Last but not not least is Lily in her summer hat. That picture was taken in the Missouri Botanical Garden parking lot a few weeks back. I thought it was a great shot because it looks like Lily is holding the camera and taking a picture of herself. I can assure you that’s not what happened.

6 months old

Lily has been very busy learning new things. She is bigger: at her last checkup she weighed 14lbs and 5oz, she is 26 inches long. It really is unbelievable to see her grow into this little person. She loves to smile and play. This past week she started to make her “crazy face”. Somehow I managed to capture it this weekend – it cracks us up every single time. A lot of the time she sticks her tongue out the side of her mouth and bits it with her gums. Crazy.

She is using her high chair to eat now and she hasn’t refused a fruit or vegetable yet. Although Lily prefers to stand up with help or play in her new car, she is slowly getting better at sitting up. Here is the first time she sat up all by herself. She loves the texture of the carpet! Today she got her 6 month pictures taken and she did very well, in a few weeks I’ll post the photo shoot. Hope every one had a great 4th of July!

Been a while

New Lily stats: she is 5 months old. You can see from her mickey picture she is getting much longer. She weighs 13 pounds. We have started introducing her to solid foods, so far rice cereal is good, but squash is much better! Over time we’ll introduce more flavors. Lily is a very successful at flipping over, front to back. She gets mad when she is on her tummy and seems to have forgotten how to get herself onto her back. The biggest challenge was/is getting her used to sleeping without her swaddler and having her flip over onto her tummy when she wakes up. Just this weekend she has fallen asleep on her tummy so maybe just maybe we are moving into a better phase. Lily is teething, mostly slobbering up clothing, bibs, hands and any object that comes near her mouth. I’m not sure when I tooth will pop out but someday soon I suppose. She thinks she is a big girl and likes to play in her exersaucer where she can stand up and look around.

Last weekend Lily was baptized. Our families came down to celebrate with us. We were lucky enough to have great weather so our grill out was a success. Lily was agreeable and did a wonderful job. She wore the baptism gown that her great-grandma made. It was a very special day that we were grateful to be able to share with our families.

Back from Orlando and lots of new skills…

We had our first family adventure to Orlando 2 weeks ago. We spent four days in a house with Scott’s family so we could let Lily meet the rest of the family and see everyone again. The flight down went very well, and the flight back went well enough. I’m so thankful she isn’t walking yet!

While we were there we went to Epcot and Lily did great. She loved looking around at all the new things. The other highlight was going swimming. She wore her little tankini, which I had to show off to everyone in the pictures below. The ruffle butt is just too much!!! We went in the not-so-hot-tub (more luke warm) which was perfect and Lily loved the bubbles so much that nobody could see her face. It was pretty funny.

Since we’ve been back Lily is trying more new things. We are trying to introduce her to rice cereal. The first attempt last weekend was not so good. But this morning she did much better, she may have even swallowed some. It is a whole new experience sitting in the high chair too, I think getting used to that is an obstacle all by itself. Lately she is very interested in rolling over. You can see her back bend (if only I could do that in yoga…) and she is getting closer and closer every day. She can roll from her front to her back, and seems to almost enjoy tummy time now. She is an expert at spitting and blowing raspberries.

16 Weeks

Lily is 16 weeks old and you can see how much she has grown and changed. Today was her pediatrician appointment and I guess I was off with my 12 month and 12 pound assessment. Lily is 11lbs 9.75oz 24.5inches long. At her last check up she was short and squatty, today she is long and lean. Good news is she is growing well and developing on schedule. Lately Lily is making us laugh more and more every day. She has found her thumb and loves to suck it if she remembers it is attached to the hand she is sucking on. She loves to snuggle while being carried by Scott so we had to capture them together. Tummy time is a bit more tolerable and I tried to get a cute picture of her. Last but not least she makes these funny faces in the car seat so we actually got one on camera. She does laugh and giggle in a very cute way but somehow we only got the goofy shots this time around. Maybe the blog should have been called “silly faces of Lily”.

This weekend I was working on getting Lily used to being carried around in her baby Bjorn so she is used to it when we go traveling this week to Florida. Both walks went very well and the second one ended in a huge nap so I assume she likes it just fine.

Easter Lily

Lily celebrated her first Easter. The Easter Bunny gave her a teddy bear that is dressed up as a bunny, some sunscreen for her trip to Florida and candy to share with her Mom and Dad It was fun for us to have time to prepare for this holiday since Christmas was a blur and hardly acknowledged in the house. I think that Lily really likes the teddy bunny as you can see in the pictures.

This weekend we went to the Botanical Garden (my favorite place!!!) and the tulips were up and the cherry blossoms were in bloom. Lily was not nearly as excited as I was… as you can see she slept the entire time we were there. It was a beautiful day and I’m glad we had a chance to walk around with her.

Other new Lily things… Scott had Lily laughing like crazy. He found a new game by saying “oooohhhh Baby!” and she LOVES it. She laughed and squealed. We laughed at her laughter and she laughed more. It was ridiculous. She has a new activity mat with toys hanging from it and she has a great time with that. Then this afternoon I put her in the baby bjorn and walked around the neighborhood. She was very good while we walked around, she loves to look at new things.

This week is her last week at her current daycare. They have been very good to us and we are sad to say goodbye, but we met her new teacher and we know Lily will be loved there too. Her teacher came to the house and we had a chance to talk and Lily seemed to like her very much. I think we’ll do great there. That is it for now. Happy Easter everyone.

12 week continued… 2 weeks late

Here is the Mickey mouse picture that I promised. As you can see Lily continues to grow. She has officially discovered her hands with a preference of putting her right one in her mouth. She even rubs her eyes when she is getting tired. She is having fun kicking and cooing while playing on the floor. All in all she is pretty happy. The other picture is one morning where she was in a great mood and making all kinds of funny faces. She was so much fun to watch.

This week Lily will meet her new teacher from the daycare we are switching to in 2 weeks. It is really nice because the primary teacher comes to our house to meet all of us. Also, I get to a long weekend with Lily because daycare is closed on Friday for teachers training day. The weather is supposed to be 75 and sunny! Every weekend for 3 in a row have been cold and rainy so I’m looking forward to having some fun in the sun with my baby.
